Team Lead Operations (Bulk cargo)

Due to the expansion of our activities, we are currently looking for a self-starting and hands-on:

TEAM LEAD OPERATIONS (BULK CARGO)

In this challenging role you will manage and support the Bulk team on operational level in the day-to-day business. This includes but is not limited to the management of the physical and administrative inbound and outbound flows of bulk in a cost-effective way to ensure that our factories and/or customers are supplied in time and sales and purchase agreements are met. The bulk team is part of the Operations department and consists out of a team of six young and multicultural colleagues. The position is based in our Rotterdam office and reports to the Operations Manager.

 

Main responsibilities:

  • Manage the team in day-to-day operations and coordinate and resolve extraordinary issues in ships planning, tank storage/terminal operations, port operations of arriving vessels etc.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound scheduling of bulk cargo; optimise the planning and ensure the operations are done in the most efficient and cost-effective way for the organization.
  • Manage team resources as required to ensure business continuity and ensure sufficient back-up when required
  • Gather and link information, resolve discrepancies and make strategic recommendations
  • Analyse and evaluate strategic information (freight cost, storage cost, contract management, SLA, etc.)
  • Define and provide targets (KPI’s) for the team to ensure the team meets business needs
  • Escalate operational issues to management when needed
  • Coordinate and manage relationships with the various stakeholders in the supply chain
  • Coordinate and manage relationships with third parties, tank storage, suppliers and production site(s).
  • Coordinate and manage the relationship with the shipping desk at Singapore Headquarters.
  • Monitor customs related activities
  • Identify process bottlenecks and implement solutions in a timely manner.
  • Lead, develop and appraise team members to ensure individuals meet the job standards

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (HBO/ MBO level 4)
  • Experience of working with companies engaged in export-import and trading activities
  • Knowledge of International Trade Practices
  • Knowledge of import and export (customs) documentation and procedures
  • Knowledge of transport & storage of Bulk Cargo
  • Good skills in ERP software and MS Office (Excel, Word)
  • Good communication skills in English and Dutch
  • Knowledge of specific contract terms as custom of the trade (FOSFA & NOFOTA)
  • Ability to lead by example & motivate others
  • Able to cope with Stress / unpredictable situations
  • Prioritize and manage several tasks simultaneously
  • Have a creative mind to resolve challenges
