To support the growth of our European business we are currently looking for an experienced and hands on:

Senior Financial Controller

In this role, you will be responsible for delivering accurate and insightful financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring full compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements. Reporting to the Finance Manager Europe, you will lead a robust month end and year end close process, maintain strong balance sheet governance and drive continuous improvement in financial controls and processes. You will lead and develop the local finance team, oversee the performance of the GL Shared Service Team based in Southeast Asia, and act as a trusted business partner to stakeholders across the business.

Main responsibilities:

  • Prepare month-end and annual profit and loss and balance sheet reports
  • Prepare year-end and statutory accounts and support the annual audit process
  • Maintain the full chart of accounts and trial balance; manage accruals and fixed assets
  • Reconcile payroll administration, clearing accounts and suspense accounts; manage intercompany statements
  • Oversee inventory, accounts receivable and accounts payable balances to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Provide management with timely financial information by preparing and presenting reports, budgets, forecasts and financial statements
  • Manage the budget and forecasting cycles and contribute to performance management
  • Ensure periodic statistical declarations are reviewed and submitted on time; provide input to corporate income tax returns and review transfer pricing documentation prepared by HQ
  • Maintain and strengthen financial controls by designing and implementing accounting policies and procedures; propose and implement improvements
  • Lead and develop local financial accountants and oversee the performance of the GL Shared Service Team
  • Demonstrate commitment to Wilmar’s Quality, Environment, Safety, Health and Sustainability (QESSH) policies and actively support continuous improvement and risk awareness

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Master’s or minimum bachelor’s degree (HBO level) in financial accounting or a comparable field
  • Proven experience in financial accounting, including month-end and year-end close, reporting and audit processes
  • Speaking/reading/writing fluent English
  • Excellent skills in Excel and confidence with reporting tools (e.g. BI/Tableau)
  • Knowledge of Dutch GAAP and IFRS
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in an international environment
  • Ability to implement structure and procedures
  • Strong sense of ownership and hands on mentality
  • Experience in improving and documenting accounting and controlling processes
  • Experience with ERP systems; SAP is preferred
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively
